Does Graveyard Keeper 2 Have Multiplayer? No, Single-Player Only

All four official storefronts list single-player only. Here is the evidence from each one, plus the story of the fan mod that added co-op to the original.

Graveyard Keeper 2 does not have multiplayer. Here is the evidence from all four storefronts:

All four agree.

“They haven’t said” is not “they said no”

Those are different things.

The fact is this: the developers have said nothing about co-op, one way or the other. The store pages do not say “no multiplayer”, and none of the seven official posts between April and September 2026 mention it.

So every “will they add co-op” thread you have read is speculation.

Why players keep asking

A game about running one small world together is a natural fit for co-op. And the series has a precedent.

Someone built a co-op mod called Keepers Together for the original game and released it publicly in 2026. The author says it is completely free and that you can host your own private servers. But the limits are hard:

  • You have to finish the tutorial yourself first. A player who joins mid-tutorial can barely interact with anything.
  • There are no persistent servers. The world pauses when the host logs off.
  • You handle the install and the port configuration. The author also calls the project very early.

In other words, even the original’s co-op was never an official feature. It was one person’s spare-time project.

Why co-op here would be a redesign, not a toggle

Three of the sequel’s core systems resist a simple multiplayer layer:

  • Zombie automation shares one production chain. Two players editing the same belt creates ownership conflicts.
  • Town battles scale capture speed with headcount, so multiple players change the difficulty curve outright.
  • Quests and story are written for one actor, and the quest flowchart menu assumes a single player.

Steam forum posters also argue against adding co-op to a single-player game, on the grounds that pulling resources away from polishing the core usually costs more than it gains. That is a player opinion, not an official position.

Three options if you want to play with a friend

  1. Play separately and sync progress over voice chat, warning each other about bottlenecks. This is the only zero-friction option today.
  2. Go back to the original and use the mod, accepting the three limits above.
  3. Wait for an official statement, and follow the official Discord and the Steam news hub.

If you want to judge whether the game suits playing side by side, read the beginner guide and the automation page.

Still unannounced

  • Whether the developers plan any form of multiplayer, including cross-play, after launch.
  • Whether a modding scene will exist for the sequel. Steam’s feature list has no Workshop entry.
