Graveyard Keeper 2 Demo: Free, and Progress Carries Over

There is a free demo, and you can play it right now. It went live on 14 September 2026.

On Steam it is its own product page. PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 all have it too. Demo progress carries over when the full game launches on 22 September.

The developers have not published the demo’s file size or length. Players report roughly 4 hours to get through it.

One thing to get straight first: there is no mobile version of this game. Any site offering a “Graveyard Keeper 2 APK” is not an official source.

Where to get it

Whether Xbox One has its own demo was not mentioned in any official report, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Save transfer: what is confirmed and what is not

Three outlets and the official Steam post all say the same thing: demo progress carries into the full game.

The official wording is: “your demo save file will carry over to the main game when it launches on September 22nd”.

What is confirmed is same-platform demo to same-platform full game. Cross-platform transfer has not been mentioned at all. Whether a Steam demo save could continue on Switch, for example, is unstated, so do not assume it.

Separately, Nintendo confirms that save data is shared between the Switch and Switch 2 versions. That is a different claim.

What the demo covers

It runs from the opening through your first production loop: escaping the dungeon, taking on the Grand Inquisitor role, your first town defence battle, and getting the graveyard and workshop running.

The official announcement describes it as “get crafting, scavenging, graveyard-digging (and decorating), and even get your first experience leading an army to protect The Town”.

Performance: good and bad reports

Demo feedback is not uniform, so here is both sides.

• Smooth: “The game runs without bugs or crashes on PC”, “Running perfect xsx”.
• Problems: “Sorry, Graveyard Keeper 2 Demo is a stuttering mess on PS5 Pro”, “It works so baaad on Steam Deck: 30 fps, a lot of drops and a lot of heat on Medium settings”, “is it just me or does the game run in 30 fps on switch 2?”.

These are community observations from the demo build, not official data, and they do not predict the full release. But they are enough to justify one conclusion: play the demo before deciding which platform to buy on.

How to avoid fake downloads

Three rules:

1. Download only from the four official stores listed above.
2. The demo is marked free in every store. Anything that charges you, asks for a third-party launcher, or tells you to disable antivirus is not official.
3. There is no mobile version. No Android/iOS listing exists on the official site or any store, so treat any APK as unofficial by default.

Still unannounced

• The demo’s file size. The 792 MB on the Nintendo page is the full game’s estimated size, not the demo’s.
• Official demo length. Only the community’s “about 4 hours” exists.
• Whether cross-platform save transfer works.
